In 1992, James was an
James started coaching at Carson-Newman and helped bring a top 5 nationally ranked recruiting class among non-division I schools. James has also helped coach two teams that finished in the top ten in the NCAA tournament.
Coach James then moved to UT-Chattanooga as Head Assistant and helped bring in a top 20 nationally ranked recruiting class. James then served as the Interim Head Coach at
The Virginia Military Institute called James to assist with their program and in while there VMI won its
its first ever All-Academy tournament title. Under James, VMI also won the
Franky James was hired to start the Campbellsville University Wrestling program in April of 2004 and is now entering the 3rd season as CU’s Head Coach.

Billy James
Student Assistant Wrestling Coach
Billy begins his first season as a member of the Tiger coaching staff after his career as a varsity member of the Tiger wrestling program. Billy will work with the new Tiger team members at practice and assist with individual workouts. Billy was a member of the first Tiger Team in 2004 and was the first wrestler to commit to CU. He made sure that the program got off to a good start and completed two good years for the Tigers by becoming a 2X National Qualifier and the East Region Runner up in 2005. Billy will graduate from Campbellsville with a degree in Criminal Justice and pursue a career with the state police or a teaching and coaching career. Billy is a graduate of
